Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane believes the player of the season should be someone who showed consistency throughout the campaign.

"It's difficult to judge you know, more especially because of these lockdown things, football had to be suspended a bit," Mdantsane tells KickOff.com.

"But for me I think Themba Zwane was outstanding man. I think it should be someone who had influence in all competitions you know. I think that's how they judge a person. They don't just check one thing."

Mdantsane admits winning the league this season does not give his choice Zwane an advantage over others as there were some instances in the past where there were winners that did not win the league.

"I don't know, but there were players who once won this thing having not won the league," he adds.

"Like [Lebogang] Manyama. He got the player of the season without [Cape Town City] winning the league. I think they were number two or something. But as for Zwane, I think he did well to be honest. He was scoring goals, he was assisting, he was creative. He played a big part in them winning the treble."
