Carling trumpet PSL sponsorship

Carling Black Label, who a year ago announced they had replaced Castle Lager as the PSL's beer suppliers on a five-year deal, released a statement which reads: 'For the past 7 years, Carling Black Label has empowered the voice of football fans through the Carling Cup. Today, South Africa’s biggest beer brand further strengthened their commitment to local soccer by announcing their sponsorship of the Premier Soccer league, becoming the official beer supplier.

'Coinciding with the announcement of the sponsorship, Carling Black Label launched their new football focused national campaign - Champion Fans Inspire Champion Teams. The campaign seeks to bring football lovers an unprecedented fan experience throughout the season, across all 16 teams.

'For the PSL 2018/19 season, Mzansi’s most loved beer brand will empower the voice of the Champion fan through meaningful interactions with former players on both radio and television.

'Engaging with a team legend or current player is an experience that every Champion fan dreams of, and can now realise. Fans can tune into their favourite South African radio sports show, on a weekly basis, to get an opportunity to share their opinions on various topics with team legends, ex-players or analysts.

'Listeners will also stand a chance of appearing on a special Carling Black Label segment called The Carling Couch on SABC 1’s football show Soccer Zone every Monday until the 5th of November 2018. The selected radio stations for the competition are Ukhozi FM, Lesedi FM, Phalaphala FM, Umhlobo Wenene, Motsweding FM, Mughana Lonene FM, Ligwalagwala FM, Thobela FM, Ikwekwezi FM and Metro FM.

'Additionally, an on-pack promotion will run until the 31st October where fans can stand to win Champion prizes, including a VW Golf GTi, a gaming bundle or airtime. To enter the promotion, buy a 750ml Carling Black Label, dial *120*660*your unique code#.

'Carling Black Label has taken over from Castle Lager as an official PSL beer supplier. The beer giant has signed a 5-year contract with the Premier Soccer league.'

Carling Black Label brand director Grant Pereira added: “Carling Black Label’s role in local football is single-minded – to empower the voice of the fan, by giving him, or her, a platform to express their opinion and impact the beautiful game.

“The decision to partner with the PSL will give the brand an opportunity to continue to amplify the voice of the fan throughout the season, and strengthen our commitment to local football.”
