A number of PSL clubs have recently released players whose contracts ran up at the end of June, after deciding not to extend until the end of the 2019/20 season.
According to FIFA regulations, in order for players’ contract to be legally compliant, their ending date must be June 30.

However, in these unprecedented times of Covid-19, the world football governing body has made provision for players to have their contracts extended until a date when each member association’s domestic league is completed.
With the PSL’s 2019/20 campaign set for a return, albeit a date is not yet known, several clubs have exercised this option on their players, while others have opted to set those no longer in their plans free.
KickOff.com has made up a select-XI of released players, all of whom make up a total estimated transfer value of R55.5-million in a 4-4-2 formation.
Amongst the most expensive are centre-back Siyanda Xulu, who has been released by Maritzburg United and is valued at R14.4-million, and winger Thabo Rakhale, who was released by Chippa United and is valued at R7.7-million.
