Poll: Who should be Chiefs' starting 'keeper?

The battle for Kaizer Chiefs' No. 1 spot is one of the hottest topics in South Africa. Who do you think should be entrusted with the gloves this season?

One of the biggest talking points at Naturena this season revolves around Kaizer Chiefs' goalkeeping department, where club captain Itumeleng Khune, Daniel Akpeyi, Bruce Bvuma and new arrival Brandon Peterson are all vying for the club's No. 1 spot.

Khune, who boasts more than 300 appearances for the Amakhosi, started the first match of the season in Chiefs' penalty-shootout defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN 8 quarter-finals, while Bvuma has since been entrusted with the gloves in all three matches since.

While Bvuma appears to have laid claim to the starting berth for the time being, the position remains up for grabs and Akpeyi, who featured regularly in the last two seasons, Peterson, who is highly-rated, or Khune could usurp the 26-year-old as the season progresses.

"...If there is an indication, and if all the 'keepers are equal, we will obviously think about the future," Baxter said on the goalkeeping situation earlier this week. So if you don’t get a definite advantage with choosing one of the other ones then we will select what we believe is the long-term choice for Kaizer Chiefs."
