Pitso opens up on Rantie departure

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes he did his best to help troubled striker Tokelo Rantie resurrect his football career.

Sundowns parted ways with Rantie last week after he went AWOL.

The former Orlando Pirates striker joined the club towards the end of last year but failed to make a single appearance in an official game.

Despite being given another chance to revive his career after he was dumped by Cape Town City last season, Rantie still let down Mosimane.

"I am not disappointed because I feel I have done my part," Mosimane said.

"I spoke to you guys and said 'what do you think is going to happen' because this guy has a reputation.

"I said 'give this guy a chance, give him a lifeline' so that's what I did. Basically what you guys were saying or Cape Town City were saying came out the same way.

"What can I do? I can't do anything."
