Lebese was signed from Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the current campaign, but has struggled to get into the starting line-up since making the big move to Chloorkop.
The 29-year-old has made nine Absa Premiership appearances and a total of 14 in all competitions, netting just two goals.
Lebese was told that he needed to lose weight to have a shot at getting back into the team. He has lost the weight and Mosimane says he is in good shape to play again.
Sundowns take on Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium tomorrow (15h00) and will be handed the Absa Premiership trophy, together with a cheque for R10 million.
“The challenge with George is that it’s not that he is not a good football player, and it’s very difficult to justify what I am saying because you’ll say ‘ja, but you have not played him’. We had to make sure that we get him in the right physical condition. He had to lose eight kilos. Just imagine, he was playing with eight kilos,” Mosimane tells KickOff.com.
“Maybe sometimes you can say Steve Komphela [former Chiefs coach] was not using him enough. So we had to hit the nerve with him and say ‘you have to lose a little bit of weight’.
“Now he looks sharp and he looks good now, but you must understand that our last eight games were a win-at-all-costs situation. Now he can start properly with pre-season and I hope he plays on Saturday.”
