Pitso blasts career-threatening tackle

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has condemned Stellenbosch captain Rafiq De Goede's dangerous tackle on midfielder Rivaldo Coetzee.

De Goede dealt Coetzee what looked like a career-threatening tackle during Sundowns' 3-1 Absa Premiership win at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday night, earning himself a straight red card.

The former Ajax Cape Town defender was later stretchered off the field due to the effects of the tackle and was replaced by Mosa Lebusa.

"It was a career-threatening injury. I saw it on TV," said Mosimane.

"He was not worried about the ball. He said 'I want that tackle' and he went to the ankle. It's unacceptable! If my player does that I would say it."

Coetzee will go for a medical scan to determine the full extent of his injury.
