Pitso: That won't win you the league

Premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane believes history could determine the destination of the league title this season.

Sundowns remain unbeaten in the Absa Premiership so far and take on Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium tonight.

Kaizer Chiefs are currently top of the log but if the defending champions win their three games in hand, they will move above Amakhosi.

'Jingles' believes if his team can do what they have been doing for the past seven years they can retain the league trophy again this season.

"For us if we want to win the league championship we should do what we have been doing for the past seven years, that's how you win championships," said Mosimane.

"You can't hope javelin [football] will win you the championship. No ways. You are not going to win. No doubt about that. Can it win you a match? Yes."

However, Mosimane concedes that winning the league is going to be tough for every team this season due to the tight and tough competition amongst local teams in domestic football.

"Yah anybody can beat anybody but you cannot run from history," he added. "History is that if you want to win the league, you must win more than other people."
