Broos comments on Tau to Ahly talk

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos says he hopes Percy Tau will leave Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion amid links to Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Tau looks set to leave the English top-flight club imminently to reunite with Pitso Mosimane at the record 10-time African Champions ahead of the 2021/22 Egyptian Premier League campaign.

This website understands that Tau has already made his way back to South Africa in order to secure his visa at the Egyptian embassy ahead of travelling to Cairo to complete the sensational transfer.

And Broos is hopeful the deal can be done for the benefit of the national team as the attacking talisman looks to secure a more prominent role and regular game time at club level with Africa's most successful clubs.

"Percy Tau, I hope he can leave Brighton and he can go to a club, they speak about Egypt, Pitso who's in Al Ahly, it should be a very good thing for them because there's someone who knows him," Broos said on Thursday.

The Belgian tactician has been quite vocal since his appointment about the importance of players being regulars in order to be eligible for squad selection.

Tau ranks one of the more senior players at the age of 27, which Broos will seemingly build the more youthful squad around as he looks to usher South African football into a bright new era.
