Pirates target expected to move

Orlando Pirates transfer target Yacouba Sogne is expected to leave Asante Kotoko, according to club general manager George Amoako.

Pirates earlier had a reported R1,4-million offer rejected for the services of the Burkina Faso international, as they look to beef up their striking department.

The 27-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive spell with the Ghanaian giants last term, more notably with his contribution of two goals and five assists in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko are said to be looking at an offer of over R2-million for the former Stade Malien attacker, with Sudan outfit Al-Hilal also believed to be interested in his services.

Amoako has since resigned to losing their prized asset, with the club having already acquired a number of replacements for Sogne.

“I have already said we should take our eyes off Yacouba, because we have spoken to him several times and he doesn’t want to stay,” Amoako told the media in Ghana.

“We have received offers and we are still in negotiations. I once said supporters of the Club should just take their eyes off him.”

With Thamsanqa Gabuza having since been released and Egyptian giants Al Ahly understood to be in pursuit of The Buccaneers’ Justin Shonga, it may lead to the Soweto giants upping their offer as they look to sharpen their attack for the upcoming season.

The club currently have Augustine Mulenga, Gabadinho Mhango, Tshegofatsho Mabasa, Zakhele Lepasa and Shonga as striking options, with the Mulenga and Mhango perhaps more adept at operating from out wide.
