Pirates told to bring back Krol

A former Orlando Pirates star has advised the Soweto giants to swallow their pride and replace current head coach Josef Zinnbauer with Ruud Krol.

Zinnbauer arrived at Orlando Stadium in December 2019 but remains under pressure despite breaking the club's six-year trophy drought by winning the MTN8 Cup this past season.

The Buccaneers, however, have recently appointed former Golden Arrows coach Mandla Mandla Ncikazi to the technical team while this website also reported that Steve Komphela could end up with Pirates as Zinnbauer's future up in the air.

Former Pirates winger Bennett Chenene says Zinnbauer has overstayed his welcome and sees no problem with Krol coming in for a second stint.

"Yes, to be honest the coach he didn't do well though he had a good squad," Chenene tells KickOff.com.

"I won't have a problem with the club releasing him and replacing him because I don't think he did well. As for the players who must leave the club, I don't know yet, but as for the coach he must leave. This is not how Pirates play. We've always known Pirates of being good with counter attacking football, but now our team is just normal.

"Everyone who played for Pirates knows the culture of the club is attacking football. Nowadays every team matches Pirates. Pirates should be different from other teams. They must just bring back Krol. Chiefs has brought back Stuart Baxter...So they must just swallow their pride and bring back Krol."

The Buccaneers won the treble in the 2010/20211 campaign under Krol, who left the club at the end of that season.
