Lorch, Shonga to face Pirates DC

Orlando Pirates have confirmed the reason behind Thembinkosi Lorch and Justin Shonga's omission from this evening's squad as well as the the Biologically Safe Environment.

Lorch and Shonga are both facing disciplinary action after they were found to have breached the "team's protocols" though Pirates have not provided further details as to what this was.

The pair will not only miss this evening's Absa Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Dobsonville Stadium, but have not been allowed into the bio-bubble.

The club statement reads as follows:

'Thembinkosi Lorch and Justin Shonga have been excluded from the squad that reported for the BSE bubble on Sunday following a breach of the team's protocols.

'All players have been educated and are constantly reminded of their reponsiblities as public servants and role models.

'It is our role and duty to ensure that all members of this organisation are fully compliant and aware of the measures that are in place.

'Both players will be afforded the opportunity to return to play once the disciplinary processes have been finalised.

"Mr Lorch and Mr Shonga will also be required to undergo two Covid-19 tests, which both must be negative, as per the BSE protocols, before they resume any club activities.'
