Pirates pair complete return to action

The Orlando Pirates pair of Ben Motshwari and Gabadinho Mhango are finally back in first-team training after a recent absence due to off-field issues.

It was on September 20 that Pirates announced that Motshwari had been suspended after being charged by the police for an undisclosed charge.

It later emerged that his girlfriend had laid charges of assault against him with the common assault charge then struck off the court roll pending investigations.

At that time Motshwari had played twice from the bench totalling 14 minutes and then went on to miss nine games.

However, the 30-year-old has since come strong putting in two 90 minutes shift as he seeks to wipe off his bad boy tag and prove yet again that he is worthy of being kept at the club.

Last Wednesday he was thrown into the deep away at Stellenbosch and gave a polished showing before putting in another shift in the CAF Confederations Cup at LPRC Oilers of Liberia playing in central midfield again.

Facing a similar situation was Mhango.

The tabloids fed on him after reports that he had failed to settle a bill of R26 000 at Club Propaganda after buying drinks for a bevy of ladies clad in revealing outfits.

He was detained and then released following an agreement with the establishment management.

It was reported that he then received a tongue lashing from the club which amounted to a stern warning.

At that time he had only made three appearances this term.

Mhango then missed 12 games before being brought on as a second half substitute for Deon Hotto on Sunday away at LPRC Oilers.

Just like Motshwari, the Malawian forward has to make the club quickly forget about his off the field shenanigans by putting in top drawer performances.
