Bucs are set to take on arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs in an Absa Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium this weekend.
Pirates have been without midfield duo Qalinge and Rakhale since their 2-1 defeat to Bloemfontein Celtic in December, with the club confirming that both wingers have now started rehab.
"The attacking midfield duo Thabo Rakhale and Thabo Qalinge are both well into recovery road. Rakhale, who suffered from a Meniscal cyst, chronic hamstring and patella tendonitis, was given the green light by the medical team and has now started with phase one of his rehabilitation. While Qalinge, who underwent a plasma replacement procedure, has also started with phase one of his rehabilitation," read a statement on the Pirates website.
Meanwhile, left-backs Thabo Matlaba and Marc van Heerden, who both missed out in the 1-1 draw against Polokwane City in what was Kjell Jonevret's first match in charge, could return to the side for this weekend's mammoth fixture.
"Thabo Matlaba, who suffered a right ankle contusion with a ligamentus sprain, is still undergoing rehab and is scheduled to be re-assessed later today. While his counterpart in the defence Marc Van Heerden, who was inflicted with a grade-one tear of his quadricep muscle, resumed full training yesterday," the statement added.
Kick-off at the FNB Stadium is set for 15h30.
