Pirates handed massive Lorch boost

Premiership

Orlando Pirates have received a massive boost following the return of two key figures from injury.

The Buccaneers have confirmed that long-term absentees Thembinkosi Lorch and Happy Jele could both be in contention for Wednesday's match against AmaZulu after returning to training.

"...The Buccaneers have made strides on the injury front with the likes of Happy Jele and Thembinkosi Lorch all having resumed training after lengthy layoffs," the club revealed in their pre-match notes.

Lorch preciously underwent surgery following what was described as a 'freak accident' in September and is yet to play in an official match for Pirates this season.

Club captain, Jele, meanwhile, has been absent since October when he picked up a knock during the Buccaneers' clash against Royal AM at Orlando Stadium.

While it remains to be seen whether the duo will be fit enough to feature against Usuthu, their return comes as a massive boost for Pirates ahead of a busy and challenging Christmas schedule.

The Soweto giants face TS Galaxy on Saturday before taking on rivals Swallows FC and reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns in the space of six days after that, and they round the year out against Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu.
