Orlando Pirates secure R2.3m striker

Premiership

Orlando Pirates have secured the signing of Kwame Peprah for R2.3-million but his unveiling with the Soweto giants has been delayed.

Peprah signed for Pirates last week from King Faisal on a three-year contract after an incredible breakout season in the Ghana Premier League.

The 20-year-old's dynamic performances saw him rack up 12 goals in 32 league games attracted widespread attention from across the continent. But swift action by Pirates helped secure the attacker's services amid their current injury crisis.

The Ghanaian is believed to still be some time away from being available for selection having returned to his homeland after the $150,000 (R2.3m) transfer was completed.

KickOff.com understands the striker was previously only in possession of a single entry visa and returned to his homeland to reapply for an updated visa and to complete the necessary additional arrangements to relocate to South Africa.

It's believed that the process to secure his relevant paperwork will be completed in the next 'day to two' and he will return to Johannesburg 'by the end of the week.'

Pirates have endured an indifferent start to their 2021/22 season with defeat in the MTN8 quarter-final to Swallows and an opening day 2-2 DStv Premiership draw with Stellenbosch.
