Bucs: Four released, two for sale

Orlando Pirates have made further pronouncements of players set to leave the club with two also placed on the transfer list.

Pirates have continued their pre-season clearout with the release of four more players, following the earlier exits of Thabo Matlaba, Jackson Mabokgwane, Thabo Qalinge, Abbubaker Mobara and Ayanda Nkosi this week.

Phetso Maphanga, Gladwin Shitolo and Diamond Thopola have all been shipped back to Chippa United, who now look certain to retain their top flight status amid speculation that Ajax Cape Town be taking over.

Brazilian centre-back Caio Marcelo, who arrived at the start of last season, will also be joining them after failing to establish himself in Soweto. Thembela Sikhakhane has also been loaned back to AmaZulu.

Furthermore, two more Buccaneers have been placed on the transfer list - 33-year-old midfielder Mpho Makola as well as 25-year-old full-back Mishack Maphangule.

It has been an overhaul of note for Pirates, who are looking to get their ducks in a row in order to seriously challenge for the Absa Premiership, CAF Champions League and the other three domestic cups in order to bannish their five-year trophy drought.

This is also expected to be MIlutin Sredijevic's final straw in his three-year contract, which is set to end in June next year.

The club are believed to have already signed Bloemfontein Celtic trio of Bongani Sam, Ayanda Dlamini and Tshegofatso Mabasa, while they have also been linked with several other targets.
