Orlando Pirates might have to forget about signing one of their top transfer targets after he opened talks over a new contract at his current club.
SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews has confirmed the club is locked in negotiations for a new contract for striker Bradley Grobler.
This website reported back in December that negotiations between the club and the player were already underway.
Grobler is known to have been a recent target for Pirates, with Mamelodi Sundowns also linked with the striker.
The 32-year-old has played a very important role at the Tshwane side this season, scoring a total of 13 goals in 25 matches.
"Yes, he is under contract for two-and-a-half more years. We are [still] talking about the new one but there is no rush," Matthews tells KickOff.com.
Matthews says no club has approached them lately regarding the player.
"No. What's the interest all about? He is not for sale," Matthews declares. "He doesn't want to leave. He wants to end at SuperSport."
