'Nurkovic needs competition'

Former player Robson Muchichwa has ominously stated that Kaizer Chiefs will regret not adding added firepower to their squad.

Muchichwa - who lifted trophies with Amakhosi during the late 90s - says his former side will regret not adding a striker as competition to Serbian Samir Nurkovic.

In their three opening league encounters, Chiefs have scored just on two occasions while conceding three goals.

"When we speak of quality, Chiefs are lacking quality because in attack is where you need to see quality players," Muchichwa tells Kickoff.com.

"It's not that Nurkovic is a bad striker, but we just need one or two strikers as he needs competition.

"For me, they've made a mistake by not signing another quality striker to compete with Nurkovic. If things don't go well, I think Kaizer Chiefs will regret it.

"Like now, things are not going well. So they could regret it at the end of the season."

The Soweto giants currently find themselves short of genuine striker options with Colombian Leonardo Castro out injured.

Attackers Khama Billiat and Lebogang Manyama have even been deployed in recent weeks as make-shift strikers.
