'Downs should not chase useless records'

A former club legend says Mamelodi Sundowns should forget about chasing meaningless records and concentrate on lifting trophies.

Mike "Nanana" Ntombela insists that the Brazilians remain on track despite dropping points in their previous two matches.

"Sundowns are still doing well, there's no dropping of the level of performance, and I watched their games, even those they drew," Ntombela tells Kickoff.com.

"They are in control of the situation. But don't be surprised, some other teams are improving and will be able to better deal with them.

"It's not the performance of Sundowns which is costing all these draws it's the improvement of the other teams.

"At the end of the day, you have to win a league and to win a league you have to have more points than the person behind you.

"Sundowns' aim is to win the league and to participate in the Champions League and Club World Cup. That is the aim of Sundowns.

"These useless records of them having not conceded a goal, I don't take these things seriously.

"If a team is doing well like they are doing, that's what we should focus on. The biggest thing is to qualify for the Champions League and do better than the last time.

"Don't worry about such records, that means nothing in actual fact. They should focus on the bigger picture."
