Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Njabulo Blom has reacted after his name was listed among the PSL Awards nominations in the Nedbank Cup category.
Blom was a surprise inclusion when the Premier Soccer League on Wednesday confirmed the three nominees for Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player.
The surprise is that the 21-year-old played just 45 minutes in the tournament after coming on at half-time in their opening round defeat to Richards Bay FC.
Nonetheless, he has welcomed the nomination for his efforts throughout the season, regardless of his lack of impact in the cup competition.
"I would like to thank all those who nominated me for this award. It was not easy at the beginning of the season because I was not at my best form," Blom told Chiefs' website.
"I would like to thank God for giving me the strength and the wisdom to carry on throughout the season. Also, thanks to my family – my mom, my younger brother – when things were tough, they still believed in me and stood with me.
"I would also like to thank my teammates and the coaches so much. The coaches kept on giving me chances and believing in me, even when I was not at my best. My teammates also kept on motivating me.
"I was not going to be nominated if I was not playing. I was not going to be where I am if it was not for the coaches. I want to once again thank everyone for believing in me and for their support."
