After tasting CAF Champions League football with Simba, new Kaizer Chiefs midfielder James Kotei would like to see Amakhosi having a positive attitude towards playing in the continental club competitions.

The Ghanaian midfielder joined Amakhosi before the start of the new season and is yet to make an appearance, but will be hoping for more opportunities going forward.

The last time Amakhosi played in the Champions League was in 2016, when they were knocked out in the first round by Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas. They’ve never reached the group stages of the competition.

“For sure for a club like Kaizer Chiefs they have what it takes to play in the Champions League because they have done it before, so it’s not something new for the club. It’s about the players to put the club there and fight just as Sundowns players are fighting for their club. We also have to fight for the club, no matter what, so that Kaizer Chiefs can come up again,” Kotei said.

“Every man has to have a dream. You just can’t be employed and say you are just there. You must have a dream. I’m here to work and if Chiefs gets to a higher level, then my CV will be better, so it’s all about the mentality.”
