Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo is out of hospital after he was stabbed in his hometown of Umlazi on Saturday.

On Sunday morning a statement was posted on his social media account that the former PSL star was stabbed during an event organised by Mangosuthu University of Technology.

"Brilliant Khuzwayo was invited to speak at the Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) sports event. Right before he could make his address, a male, believed to be a MUT student, stabbed him and he was rushed to the hospital. A case has been opened with Umlazi SAPS," the Twitter post read.

Umlazi police confirmed the arrest of two men aged 30 and 23 following the incident, with allegations that one used a broken bottle and another a knife during an altercation.

Khuzwayo, a former South Africa international and now SABC analyst, is out of hospital after getting checked up on his hand.

KickOff.com has since gathered what the motive behind the incident might have been from a witness who was present when the scuffle occurred.

"Students wanted to take pictures with Khuzwayo and the suspect got jealous, he then fought with Brilliant," the witness reveals.

According to reports, Khuzwayo will also appear in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court today after his alleged assailant laid a counter-charge.
