Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has commented on midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch’s role in the team amid speculation over his future.
Lorch has been linked with a move away from Pirates in the current transfer window as interest from Europe appeared in several reports in recent weeks.
The Bafana Bafana star, who netted the all-important goal that eliminated hosts Egypt from the Last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations last month, is said to have caught the eye of French Ligue 1 side Toulouse as well as Percy Tau’s former club in Belgium, Union Saint-Gilloise.
Though he was absent from The Buccaneers’ shock CAF Champions League preliminary round defeat to competition debutant Green Eagles at the weekend, Micho has stressed his importance to the club’s quest in the 2019/20 season.
“He has grown a lot and you can see that he always fights for the team. He is a player with a lot of creativity and as a team, we are proud to have him,” Sredejovic said in his press conference.
“As a team, we are looking forward to competing in the [Absa Premiership] league and the Champions League, and Lorch is one of our key players.”
