Mamelodi Sundowns are set to welcome back striker Mauricio Affonso when they take on Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Sunday.

Affonso left the country for Uruguay before lockdown after undergoing an operation on his groin injury.

The towering striker has since returned to training at Chloorkop and featured in a friendly match against Swallows FC at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Tuesday.

The Brazilians have also been boosted by the return of defender Thapelo Morena following a long-term injury.

"Affonso is back at training and raring to go," a Sundowns official tells KickOff.com. "Sibusiso Vilakazi is the only one out for the game against Celtic on Sunday after undergoing an operation on his injury."

Sundowns could hand new strikers Kermit Erasmus and Peter Shalulile their debuts against Siwelele at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday (18h00).
