'Zongo doesn't deserve Motsepe League'

D'General FC co-owner Ba2Cada from Lesedi FM believes Masibusane Zongo will be back in the PSL next season.

Zongo has signed a short-term contract with the Free State-based ABC Motsepe League side.

The former SuperSport United and Platinum Stars midfielder is set to start training with D'General on Monday after spending some time in the doldrums.

Ba2Cada, who co-owns the club with Bafana Bafana midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo, has since warned South Africans to watch the new Zongo back in action and is confident he will return to top-flight football next season.

"I believe as South Africans, including media and officials, we are failing our talent in South Africa," he tells KickOff.com.

"I believe his talent was not properly managed and we want to give him a chance to play football again. I believe he can produce almost 90 percent of what current players produce in the PSL.

"Unfortunately we as Africans, when a man is down we want to kick him. We laugh at these players when they go through tough times.

"I believe whatever Zongo did was not intentional. These are some of the problems that lead to depression and we later blame ourselves and say we should have helped.

"We need to help him. It goes beyond football. It's ubuntu. To be honest this boy doesn't deserve to play here [in the ABC Motsepe League]. We want to market him so that he goes and plays in the PSL next season."

Ba2Cada has also hailed Mokotjo for his decision to try to help revive Zongo's career.

"We spoke with Kamo how could we assist him [Zongo]. He knows him since the age of 11 [at SuperSport youth development]. He played with the likes of Kermit Erasmus," he adds.

"We want to assist him and nothing except with football. He is ready to go and start afresh. We are not only assisting him but he is also assisting our club.

"Remember players like Zongo are like Doctor Khumalo and Steve Lekolea. He will assist us in terms of marketing and branding. It's 50-50. We trust this project will help Zongo go back to play in the PSL next season."
