DStv Premiership club Maritzburg United have released talented midfielder Lifa Hlongwane after growing frustrated at his wild lifestyle.
According to a source, the former Black Leopards midfielder's alcohol abuse has now placed his career at a crossroads.
The 28-year-old midfielder arrived at the Team of Choice during the offseason following a fall-out with Black Leopards owners, the Thidielas.

"The boy has huge off-field problems. He is one of the new naughty boys. I know for a fact that the club has tried for months to help him. He is drinking, partying, and he doesn't want to take his career seriously." the source reveals to Kickoff.com.
Though he refused to comment, Maritzburg football and operations manager Quintin Jetoo confirmed Hlongwane is no longer at the club.
"Yes, that's correct, we've parted ways with Lifa Hlongwane, it's absolutely correct.
"We came to a mutual termination on Monday, and we allowed him to leave.
