Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia revealed last month that Sundowns have tabled an offer for Mekoa and whilst he is pondering it both parties have to agree on certain terms in order for the deal to proceed.
He also added that if Sundowns do sign Mekoa it'll be beneficial for the player to remain at the club next season as he's not yet a finished product.
Mekoa, who was promoted in 2014/15 by then coach Steve Komphela, drew interests from Sundowns following last season's impressive showing.
Kadodia remained resolute during the off-season season and said Mekoa, along with Evans Rusike, were not for sale.
With Sundowns' offer still on the table, Binkin says the Absa Premiership champions haven't followed up on their earlier interest.
"We are nowhere because Sundowns haven't come back to me regarding the [interest] in the player, so I'm not so sure if they are still interested anymore," Binkin tells KickOff.com.
The 23-year-old Mekoa, who is viewed as Keagan Dolly's replacement by Sundowns, has scored two goals in 22 league appearances this season.
