Maritzburg United have confirmed a major new partnership which has brought to an end recent speculation that the club's status might be sold.
The DStv Premiership club has undergone a major squad overhaul during the off-season after retaining their top-flight status under head coach Ernst Middendorp.
Despite losing key stars such as Bandile Shandu and Thabiso Kutumela while releasing several other members of their 2020/21 squad, the Team of Choice added no less than 12 players ahead of the current campaign.
But amid the exciting new rebuild, rumours in local media suggested the club could be sold and relocated to the Free State in a bid to revive the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic.

This was quickly squashed by the club while businessman Lebo Mokoena confirmed to this website that there was no mention of the Team of Choice when he claimed he'll be acquiring a Premier Soccer League status.
However, with the season now in full swing as the FIFA International break draws to a close, the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit have confirmed an affiliation with the Gift of Givers Foundation.
United will now display the logo of the organisation on their kits going forward, which is the first humanitarian partnership in South African football.
Chairman Farook Kadodia the Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) fits into the ethos of their original vision of giving back to the community when they revived the club nearly two decades ago.
"When we came back to the NSL, our core values were to be an aspiration and inspirational team with the focus on nation-building, social cohesion and getting people together," he said during their live stream press conference.
"We started in a small way with Friday nights, which was our long term vision. Over the years especially from 2014, the Friday nights at Harry Gwala kicked off with success. People countrywide focused on the game, the stadium was full.
"We made everyone in the city proud. On the behalf of the board of Maritzburg United, I'd like to announce the landmark partnership with the renowned global humanitarian body, the Gift of the Givers Foundation."
The club are likely to sport their new partnership in their next league outing against Baroka on Saturday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium (17h00).
