Middendorp targeted for PSL return

Former Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp has emerged among the coaches earmarked for the vacant coaching position at Maritzburg United.

The Team of Choice are currently without a head coach after parting ways with Eric Tinkler on Monday following a winless start to the season.

Former Bafana Bafana midfielder Delron Buckley has since taken over training sessions at the KwaZulu-Natal outfit and is set to lead the team when they take on SuperSport United at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.

Middendorp is now being considered for another stint as the management looks to change its fortunes, according to sources close to the club.

"Middendorp is among the coaches earmarked by the club because he understands the culture and is familiar with the setup and environment at Maritzburg United," KickOff.com is told.

"The club is expected to announce their new man before Friday."

Middendorp is currently in charge of Saint George SC in Ethiopia following departure from Naturena at the end of last season.
