Baroka head coach Matsemela Thoka has sought to explain the unique celebration of midfielder Manuel Kambala after scoring their first goal of the 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign.
Kambala fired home the first goal for Bakgaga in their 2-0 win over Marumo Gallants on Saturday afternoon at the Peter Mokaba Stadium while Evidence Makgopa netted the other.
But the Mozambique international midfielder was sprung into the limelight with his cheerful reaction to the goal which Thoka has since clarified was due to him celebrating his 30th birthday.
"Congratulations to Kambala, it was his birthday, so when we were busy with the pre-match meeting we called him as a team and we said Kambala it's your birthday today, can you dance for us," he said after the game.
"We clapped hands and he just stood up and said you know coach, I can't dance today, I'll dance after I score today and that's what he did, so well done to the boy.
"He was dancing for two things, the goal and celebrating his birthday, so that was wonderful for him."
The powerful defensive midfielder has scored four goals in 54 games in all competitions for Baroka since his arrival from UD Songo back in July 2019.
