Sundowns 'not yet at our level' - Mngqithi

Premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes his team still has a long way to go before they reach their best level of performance.

Despite comprehensively beating Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 at FNB Stadium on Saturday as they started their title defence on a positive note, Mngqithi picked up some flaws.

"I was little bit unhappy with the number of chances we created considering the scoreline because I believe we could have easily scored four or five, possibly even six if you have to check the chances we created," he said.

"But I am happy we kept a clean sheet, though at moments I felt we wanted to give it away.

"I think this performance we can build on. We still have a very long way to go. The team is still not yet at the level where one would like to be."

Kermit Erasmus and Peter Shalulile registered their first goals each in Sundowns colours before reigning PSL Footballer of the Season Themba Zwane hit the last nail in the Amakhosi coffin from the penalty spot.

The Brazilians are set to host newcomers Tshakhuma FC in their next DStv Premiership match at home in Tshwane on Wednesday .
