Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has assured fans that new midfielder George Maluleka has a great future at Chloorkop.
Rumours emerged last week that Sundowns' trio of coaches (MMK) could be looking to loan out Maluleka just a few months after he joined the club from Kaizer Chiefs.
But 'Mido' silenced the prophets of doom when he came off the bench against Kaizer Chiefs and created the third goal in Saturday's 3-0 win, winning a penalty under a challenge from Itumeleng Khune.
Even though he spent only a few minutes on he pitch against his former club at FNB Stadium, Maluleka displayed a few deft touches to win the hearts of Brazilians fans.
"Maybe just to clarify this rumour because this rumour is unfounded," Mngqithi said after the match.
"Maybe it's people trying to kill other people's careers because I also put it very straightforward in the previous game that he is in our plans, we know what he is capable of.
"Even when he came in today [Saturday] we knew what was expected from him. We wanted him to drive in a little bit and assist us in keeping possession. But you also know that he has that good pass to find spaces behind the defence.
"You could see that both Daniel Cardoso and Ramahlwe Mphahlele were climbing higher up and at certain moments they played with three in defence and pushed both Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat up top.
"We wanted someone that could easily deliver the same pass that Hlompho Kekana can deliver in that space because we also wanted to see if we could get anything from the counter-attack."
"I was impressed to see him going as far as getting a penalty in the box, which for me was very encouraging."
Sundowns are set to entertain newcomers Tshakhuma FC in their next DStv Premiership match at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday (19h30).
