Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi has fuelled speculation after he declared his great admiration of Maritzburg United striker Thabiso Kutumela.

The former Orlando Pirates striker has been linked to both Sundowns and AmaZulu following his impressive season with Maritzburg, who he helped survive relegation.

Kutumela is understood to have one more year left on his contract with the Team of Choice and will thus be eligible to pen a pre-contract from as early as January next year.

Mngqithi has admitted that he has always been big fan of the 27-year-old even before joining Orlando Pirates from Baroka FC back in 2016.

"I like him but I am not sure whether he is coming to the club or not, but I like him. He is a very good football player. I have always liked him, you can ask him. When he was at Baroka, I liked him," said Mngqithi during the DStv Premiership champions' trophy tour at Mams Mall.

The diminutive attacker managed 14 goals and one assist in his 31 appearances across all competitions with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

Meanwhile, The Brazilians are expected to meet with midfielder Aubrey Ngoma to discuss his future with the club. Ngoma is back in Tshwane after spending the season on loan at Cape Town City.
