Ncikazi: We don't have superstars

Premiership

Golden Arrows coach Mandla Ncikazi says the unity within the team has been key to the side's unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership this season.

Abafana Bes'thende are yet to suffer defeat in the league this season, a record which they kept intact after drawing 0-0 with Orlando Pirates.

"The toughest match as we expected, Pirates are a big team and it showed but towards the end I felt the fact that they rotated the team they had the legs, we haven't changed our team, sometimes your strength becomes your weakness," Ncikazi told SuperSport TV.

"And today I felt that. I'm still proud of the boys, the players who are willing to play with injuries like it happened with [Nkosinathi] Sibisi, what else can you ask from your players, irrespective of the result, I would have still be proud of these boys.

"The boys have been together for some time, we prepared, we know Pirates have the ability to change personnel or change the formation within the game. We prepared for all and I thought it worked when we introduced [Lindokuhle] Mtshali because I thought [Siboniso] Conco was not giving, although he played well but defensively we were challenged," he said.

"Still proud, 0-0 against Pirates, we're a small team, let's take and go home. I don't even know that's the record [unbeaten since start of the season], I hear that from you. If that is the case we just want to thank our Chairlady, I know she doesn't want that.

"Opportunities that are given to people like us and the players the respect that they give, the unity amongst the team, the unity in the technical team, it just comes out like that. We don't have superstars, everybody in the team is a superstar," he added.
