Ncikazi headed for Soweto giants

Premiership has learnt that coach Mandla Ncikazi could be joining one of the Soweto giants following his surprise departure from Golden Arrows on Wednesday.

Arrows took everyone by surprise on Youth Day when the club announced the departure  of Ncikazi despite having guided the team to a record fourth position in the DStv Premiership this past season.

According to sources in Durban, the former Maritzburg United mentor could be headed for Orlando Pirates in a different capacity next season.

"There is no surprise. This was bound to happen at the end of the past season. Mandla Ncikazi has a great offer in Gauteng and could join Orlando Pirates as an assistant coach next season," says the source.

German coach Josef Zinnbauer's future at The Buccaneers remains uncertain, with the club reportedly keen to bringing in a new coach next season.

Zinnbauer helped Bucs qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup for a second time in succession, after the Rand Stadium-based outfit finished third in the league.

Pirates are also expected to announce a new goalkeeper coach and fitness and  conditioning coach before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
