Downs line up sixth new signing

Premiership

KickOff.com can reveal that Mamelodi Sundowns are set to finalise the transfer of a defender from Bloemfontein Celtic.

This website understands that Sifiso Ngobeni, who was amongst the stand-out performers for Bafana Bafana during the recent Cosafa Cup, is set to complete a switch to Chloorkop.

Ngobeni is expected to undergo a medical before joining the rest of Sundowns' team in their trip to Polokwane for their pre-season camp.

The Brazilians have already secured the services of midfielder Neo Maema from Celtic and could now land a second star from the Free State-based side.

"The negotiations with all parties are now at an advanced stage. Ngobeni is expected to arrive at Chloorkop this week to complete his medicals," says a source.

"He is expected to join the rest of the players in Polokwane before the end of this week."

According to the source, Ngobeni is seen as a replacement for defender Tebogo Langerman, who is on his way out of the 11-time DStv Premiership champions.

Phunya Sele Sele are currently serving a FIFA transfer ban over their failure to settle an outstanding debt with former goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb.
