Mabunda earns new role at Downs

Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed Tiyani Mabunda has been appointed in a new role as a club ambassador after a decorated eight-year spell as a player.

Mabunda's exit was confirmed by Sundowns earlier this week, bringing to an end a career that includes six league titles, a CAF Champions League, two Telkom Knockouts, two Nedbank Cups and a CAF Super Cup.

The 33-year-old has now decided to hang up his boots to take up a role as a brand ambassador with the Tshwane giants who've rewarded him for his excellent service since his arrival from Black Leopards nearly a decade ago.

"We are delighted to announce that Tiyani Mabunda's story with Mamelodi Sundowns will continue as he takes on his new role as a Club Ambassador," the club statement read.

Mabunda racked up 145 appearances for Masandawana during one of the club's most successful periods in their history after being snapped up from Black Leopards in July 2013.
