Pirates have bounced back after last season’s horrible campaign and are hoping to push Sundowns all the way to the end for the coveted title.

“Pirates have a strong team. You can see the way they play; their combinations, the way they go forward and they are organised at the back. They are a strong team and they have shown that they can compete,” says Zwane, who has been linked with a move to Pirates in recent times.

Sundowns will have an opportunity to move six points clear of the Soweto giants when they take on Golden Arrows at Loftus Stadium on Tuesday (19h30).

The Brazilians were in fine form when they beat Bidvest Wits 2-0 at Loftus on Saturday, taking advantage of two errors from the visitors’ midfielder Phumlani Ntshangase. It was Sundowns’ fourth league victory in a row, and five overall when you include the Nedbank Cup win over Cape Town City.

They’ll go into the Arrows game on a high, looking to edge themselves closer to the title.

It’s sure to be an interesting finish to the race.
