Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise is targeting more minutes on the field this season and has revealed what keeps him motivated.
With loads of competition in the middle of the park, Mkhulise is aware that he will not play week in and out, but he’s slowly making his way into the team, having featured as a substitute on a couple of occasions recently.
Just yesterday he came on as a substitute in Sundowns’ 4-0 victory over Otoho d’oyo in the CAF Champions League, showing signs of maturity as coach Pitso Mosimane continues to ive him opportunities and work on his growth.
Mkhulise has set some targets, both individually and with the club.
“This season I want to see the team winning more trophies. There’s the MTN8 and I think we should win it. And if I can get more minutes on the pitch I will be happy and I know I will improve as a player,” he tells KickOff.com.
“I’m not sure how many games I’d like to play, but as long as I am improving I will be happy. My family keeps me motivated all the time because I am always talking to them. They tell me that my time will come and I must keep pushing. Also I do a lot of gym work. I do my own training sessions and that’s what keeps me motivated.”
