Sundowns to hijack Ngcobo deal?

Mamelodi Sundowns are making frantic efforts to beat Kaizer Chiefs for the services of defender Njabulo Ngcobo from Swallows FC.

Ngcobo, 27, has been on the wanted list of Amakhosi for the past two months but now Sundowns have joined the race to sign the Kwazulu Natal born defender.

According to sources close to the Brazilians, the club met with Dube Birds last week in a bid to lure the centre-back to Chloorkop next season.

"It all looked like Ngcobo was joining Chiefs. But Sundowns are now preparing a mouth-watering offer. There has been official contact between Sundowns and Swallows," the source told

"Sundowns are ready to break the bank for Ngcobo whilst Kaizer Chiefs are offering cash plus players as part of a swap deal."

Dumisani Zuma and Philani Zulu are the players reported to have been offered to the Dube Birds as part of a swap deal that could see Ngcobo moving to Naturena next season.
