Laffor's insight into Downs' 'next Castro'

Mamelodi Sundowns forward Anthony Laffor has explained why new signing Mauricio Affonso reminds him of Leonardo Castro.

Affonso joined Sundowns before the start of the season, but the South American has not made an appearance due to his struggle with an ankle injury.

Laffor got an opportunity to see Affonso in training during pre-season and he liked what he saw, so much that he has compared the Uruguyan to former Sundowns forward Castro, who is from Colombia.

“He’s a top player, a top player. I was not training during pre-season, but I watched him from the stands and he’s a top guy. It’s just that he got a little bit of a setback with his injury,” Laffor said.

“But when he is okay, South Africa is going to see a different guy because he is a little like Castro, with his ability. You know Sundowns always brings the South American players. So we look forward to seeing him on the pitch.”

Sundowns fans will be hoping that the lanky forward recovers from the injury soon and finally makes his debut, so that they can see what he has to offer in attack. Head coach Pitso Mosimane has in previous interviews described him as a typical number nine.
