Imperious Downs complete clean sweep

Mamelodi Sundowns' command over the DStv Premiership has continued after surpassing yet another impressive milestone with their recent win over Golden Arrows.

Wednesday's victory away at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium maintained an unbeaten start to the season for Sundowns. While also impressively not conceding a goal in their opening seven matches played.

The Brazilians have also opened up a four-point lead at the top of the DStv Premiership standings while going on to guarantee the PSLs Q-Innovation Quarter One prizemoney.

An ominous sign for the rest of the league is that Masandawana has now beaten every top-flight opponent they've faced in this calendar year.

Golden Arrows were the last team standing in the way of this impressive record after a goalless draw at the end of April this year.

Orlando Pirates have been on the losing end three times in 2021 without breaching the Sundowns defence.

In fact, Pirates have managed to score just a solitary goal against the defending champions in their last seven league meetings.

Beaten twice this year are Baroka and TS Galaxy.

Kaizer Chiefs headline those that have lined up once for a beating in a long list featuring Swallows, Arrows, AmaZulu, Cape Town City, Royal AM (Bloemfontein Celtic), SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, Chippa United, Marumo Gallants (Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila), Stellenbosch and Black Leopards (now relegated).

PSL new boys Sekhukhune United stand as the odd ones out having yet to face Sundowns since being promoted at the start of the season.

That clash is scheduled for November 27 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

With their blistering start to the season, Sundowns are favourites for a record fifth consecutive league title and look likely of surpassing the record 71 points amassed mark.
