Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is hoping Keletso Makgalwa will take the opportunities he is getting, just as Percy Tau did in the past.
Makgalwa opened his scoring account for the season in Sundowns’ 3-1 victory over Bloemfontein Celtic at Lucas Moripe Stadium over the weekend, and celebrated by running to his coach and then giving him a big hug, a touching moment for a player who was on loan to Maritzburg United last season.
His loan spell, however, was cut short when Eric Tinkler arrived the club and had to return to Chloorkop, though he did not get any first team action.
Makgalwa rewarded Mosimane's faith in him when came off the bench to score the Brazilians’ third goal, which sealed an impress come-from-behind victory and a spot in the semi-finals, where they will face Tshwane rivals SuperSport United over two-legs.
"Unbelievable. He reminds of Percy Tau, when he was coming up and we gave him a chance. He took his opportunity,” said Mosimane.
"Last week I saw a boy from Chippa United, the right back. He was man of the match, he was playing in the MDC. This week it was our MDC boy who came up.
“I was a little bit disappointed when Eric Tinkler returned him and felt he is not the right player, whereas if you remember the match against Maritzburg playing as a winger how he gave Ricardo Nascimento big problems. But these things do happen in football. I need to keep him and he had a brilliant pre-season.”
Makgalwa could get another opportunity to play when Sundowns host Cape Town City at Lucas Moripe Stadium tonight (19h30).
