The PSL has often been referred to as the best in Africa due to the money pumped into the game as compared to other countries on the continent, but there’s more to the local game than just the money and sponsors.
“I’m forever in North Africa, I live there. I watch Egyptian football and I see Luc Eymael [former Polokwane City and Free State Stars coacj], I see he is there. I’m more closer to the Moroccan style. I watch their league. I know all the coaches in Morocco. I see [Miguel] Gamondi and I relate and check that the PSL is the best. It’s the best league in Africa
“I check the pitches, I check the officiating that I always complain about. Last time I was watching Raja [Casablanca] and I said ‘we are complaining about our officiating?’ Maybe sometimes it’s okay to stay with what you have. It’s unbelievable.
He continued: “So the PSL is the best league in Africa. You look at the coverage, look at the production of the games you watch on TV. you watching there on TV. They put 16, 15 cameras. It’s at another level, so we need to be humble and know where we are and appreciate that the Premier Soccer League is a top league. I also criticise it, you know that, but it’s a top league.”
