Downs, Pirates in race for Nedbank star

Premiership

Mamelodi Sundowns are understood to have joined Orlando Pirates in the race to sign midfielder Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo from Marumo Gallants.

Ndlondlo was a star performer during the Nedbank Cup last season as he helped Gallants clinch their first trophy in the PSL after beating Chippa United 1-0 in the final.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who won three man-of-the-match awards during the Ke Yona cup, scored the solitary goal for the Limpopo-based side that subsequently helped them qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup this coming season.

According to a source close to the Limpopo outfit, The Brazilians have offered a player plus cash in exchange for the highly-rated midfielder.

"Both Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are interested. Sundowns are ready to offer Marumo Gallants money plus a player," says the source.

"The move to either Pirates or Sundowns could happen before the start of the new season."

Marumo Gallants, who have roped in Frenchman Sebastien Migne as their new head coach, will kick off their 2021/22 DStv Premiership campaign away to Baroka FC on August 21st.
