The CAF Champions League preliminary round opponents of Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have been confirmed.
Sundowns and Pirates will again represent South Africa in the continent’s biggest club competition, after they both participated in the last edition. Sundowns were knocked out in the semi-finals by Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca, while the Buccaneers could not make it past the group stages on their return to the competition for the first time since reaching the final in 2013.
This year Sundowns, who were winners in 2016, will start their campaign with a clash against AS Otoho d’Oyo of Congo-Brazzaville, while the Soweto giants will come up against Green Buffaloes.
If Sundowns go through, they’ll face Fomboni FC from the Comoros or Cote d’Or FC from Seychelles. Pirates will face the winner between Zanzibar’s KMKM or Desportivo de Agosto if they progress to the next round.
