South African football legend MacBeth Sibaya explains why in his view Patrice Motsepe is a great candidate for the CAF presidency.
The Mamelodi Sundowns owner has been endorsed by SAFA as a candidate for the next CAF presidential elections in March 2021 and has already received support from the likes of Nigeria and Botswana.
Motsepe, besides being a successful businessman, has proven his top leadership skills in football by transforming The Brazilians into one of the best clubs on the continent by ensuring financially the team is stable to compete.
With football now shifting more into business, as we see in Europe with teams raking in money from broadcasting and marketing, Sibaya believes Motsepe can change the African game in a similar way.
"No it's good, he is a good businessman, he knows how to bring resources into the game," Sibaya tells KickOff.com.
"He is not stingy and I believe we are going to see a lot of improvement in terms of injecting resources and capital into the game [if he wins the election].
"Because our football, when it comes to African competitions, a lot of teams struggle because financially to them it doesn't make sense.
"Even though it's about playing, the relationship between football and finances needs to make sense to grow the game."
The CAF elections will take place on March 12, 2021 in Rabat, Morocco and Motsepe will be competing against four other runners for the top position.
