Former Moroka Swallows midfielder MacBeth Sibaya admits he was not expecting his former club to return to the top-flight so soon.

The Dube Birds were relegated to the National First Division in the 2014/15 season and suffered yet another relegation the following season to the ABC Motsepe League.

Sibaya says Swallows' return and winning the GladAfrica Championship title last campaign caught him by surprise.

"Their return to top-flight football was sudden for me, I didn't expect it to be this soon," Sibaya tells KickOff.com.

"I think the management too didn't expect it. It's good to see the team coming back to top-flight football."

With Maswaiswai having brought in the likes of Musa Nyatama, Thabo Matlaba and Thabo Mosadi, Sibaya believes the club will definitely stay in the league as long as they keep the same attitude and make good decisions.

"Given the way they were playing in the GladAfrica, they will do well. I think they will stay [up] and I'm hoping they make good decision avoid past mistakes."
