Chabangu sends SOS call to Swallows

Premiership

'All You Need Is Love' Lerato Chabangu has sent out a clear message to former club Swallows FC to come sign him for next season.

The Dube Birds have won straight promotion back to the PSL and they will need all the help they can get in terms of experience and goalscoring if they want to survive in the top-flight.

During his days at Mamelodi Sundowns and Moroka Swallows the former Bafana Bafana playmaker used to score and create the type of goals we usually only see in the European leagues.

Chabangu has a rare ability to hit a same-time volley that goes straight into the net, something you can't say about most strikers currently in the PSL.

The 35-year-old Baberwa FC player reminds people that he has not retired from the game and could easily slot in alongside fellow veterans Vuyo Mere and Lebohang Mokoena next season.

"I'm available, I can still make it," Chabangu tells KickOff.com.

"I can still do it for them as well since I have not retired. It will depend on if there is a conversation and they call me. It will depend how much I learn and how much they will learn from me.

"I'm a grown man now and my experience will mean a lot to them. Others will learn from me as well. Like I'm saying, I haven't retired yet. With what I have and what I've learnt in my life and in football, I can still contribute a lot in football."

Should Chabangu return to Swallows, he would return to the club he nearly helped win the Absa Premiership under Gordon Igesund in 2011/12 when he was in superb form.

Igesund is also available again and wants to return to the PSL next season, although the club has indicated its intention to keep promotion-winning coach Brandon Truter.

"I'm happy to see them back and all the supporters are happy, Swallows is a big team," Chabangu adds.

"My only advice to them is they must play well and keep the club in the PSL. It's a good thing they've regained their PSL status, and I wish them good luck."
